Sinfully rich and creamy Kahlua Mousse Pie is a perfect choice for the holiday table. Elegant presentation with whipped cream piled high and chocolate curls on top.

Kahlua Desserts and Mixed Drinks

Kahlua is a sweet, thick coffee flavored liqueur made in Mexico. According to Pernod Ricard USA, "Kahlua is made from 100 percent Arabica coffee beans that are shade grown in the foothills of Mexico and roasted to perfection. The coffee is blended with the finest imported rums and sweetest vanilla to create the exotic taste that is uniquely Kahlua." It is a very versatile liqueur and can be used in many desserts like Tiramisu, Kahlua Oreo Cheesecake and Kahlua Brownies. Bartenders use it to make some pretty interesting drinks like Sombrero, Black and White Russians, B-52, Toasted Almond, Mud Slide, Screaming Orgasm, Kahlua Cockroach, and Duck Fart.

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl over hot water, melt chocolate chips, Kahlua and butter. Do not allow to burn. Set aside until cool. Do not allow it to harden or become too thick.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, whip egg whites until soft peaks form.
  3. Add sugar and whip a while longer until stiff peaks hold their shape. Transfer to a clean bowl and set aside.
  4. In the empty mixing bowl, whip 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream until stiff.
  5. Gently fold egg whites and whipped cream into chocolate mousse mixture until smooth and blended.
  6. Pour into baked pie shell. Follow directions for Best Ever Pie Crust link. Chill and set aside.
  7. Meanwhile, whip 1 cup heavy whipping cream until semi stiff.
  8. Add powdered sugar and vanilla and whip until stiff.
  9. Spoon into pastry bag fitted with large star tip an decorate pie.
  10. Sprinkle with chocolate curls and chill.
  11. Makes 1 9" pie.
