All Purpose Cookie Dough Recipe
The chocolate chip cookie dough recipe lends itself to all sorts of cookie variations. The Best Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 cups + 2 Tbsp all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoons baking soda
8 ounces (1 cup = 2 sticks) butter, softened at room temperature
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
12 ounce bag (2 cups) gourmet semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Prepare baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper or spraying with vegetable shortening.
In a large bowl, combine flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside.
Using a beater attachment and a stand mixer, beat butter on medium speed until creamy.
Add sugars and beat until fluffy. Scrape bowl.
Add eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and beat again. Scrape.
Turn mixer to low speed and add the flour mixture a few cups at a time until it is mixed well.
Scrape the bowl good to make sure everything is blended and there is no flour at the bottom.
Using a cookie scoop or Tablespoon, measure out the cookie dough and place on prepared sheets leaving some room to spread.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until slightly firm around the edges. Cookies will continue to bake for a few minutes after you take them out of the oven.
Remove to cooling racks and cool completely before storing in airtight containers.
Makes 25-30 warm, ooey, gooey soft Chocolate Chip Cookies!
M&M Cookies: Substitute equal amounts of M&M candy for chocolate chips.
Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies: Add 1 cup chopped walnuts to the dough.
White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies: Substitute gourmet white chocolate chips for semi-sweet chocolate chips and add 1 cup chopped macadamia nuts to dough.
